So, you have gathered a large group of friends with their children in tow, and made your way to one of Peninsula Group Stays’ accommodation options for big groups. Now how are you going to keep the little ones amused for the weekend, or the week…?

Thankfully, there are plenty of places you can visit on the Peninsula which cater more than adequately for adults and littlies.

If you initially thought that this would be a list of playgrounds, mini-golf venues, and amusement rides, you would be so, so wrong. Nevertheless, if you do want to partake in any of these, you will be able to find them on the Peninsula.

Conversely, if you thought that all of the wonderful wineries on the Mornington Peninsula were off-limits because you had some under-18s in tow, you should think again. There are plenty of family-friendly wineries that can keep children amused while you sample a glass or two. Just some of the best include:

  • Crittenden Estate: games (football, cricket, soccer, bocci) are provided on the lawn next to the restaurant. The cellar-door hands out activity packs for children as well.
  • Foxeys Hangout: large lawn next to the tasting area for children to run around (bring a ball)
  • Green Olive: in-ground trampoline. All-day tapas menu.
  • Tucks Ridge: children’s sandpit with a view.

Other fun activities for all include a visit to Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm. This is Australia’s largest strawberry producer and features a U-pick area, where kids, and kids-at-heart can wander around picking their own, and of course sampling a few on the way. If that doesn’t really appeal, there is a dessert cafe.

If your tastes are more savoury than sweet, Main Ridge Dairy offers an alternative. This farmhouse cheese factory and goat dairy is located in Main Ridge. You can get up close and pet the goats while learning about the cheese-making process, and then sampling the wares.

For something more active, you can’t go wrong with the Enchanted Maze at Arthur’s Seat. Featuring the eponymous maze, fairy garden, tube rides, and also tree surfing, there is enough here to keep kids of all ages amused.
