Whether you have a large extended family staying on the Mornington Peninsula, or a group of Mums getting together, the Peninsula has plenty to offer for a fun-filled Mother’s Day celebration.

The Foodie Mum

Any self-professed foodie mum would know that the Mornington Peninsula has a cornucopia of offerings to tempt her throughout the year. What makes the second Sunday in May even better is the range of special food and drink events. Here are just some of the possible choices:

Trofeo Estate is one of our absolute favourites, and a short drive for guests staying at our Drury Lane property in Dromana. On Mother’s Day, this winery, which has revived the ancient technique of aging wine in clay amphorae, is offering a special breakfast accompanied by a glass of Estate sparkling, as well as a lunch menu. Bookings are essential: 03 5981 8688

Queenscliff-Sorrento Ferries’ Mothers’ Day high tea. Between 11am and 1pm, the ferry will be serving a selection of savoury and sweet treats to mums with sea legs. Convenient for guests at Spacious Sorrento Retreat, this is a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours on the bay while being fed and entertained.

Mushroom loving Mums should book in for a Mushroom Meander at T’Gallant Vineyards. A gentle stroll through the Main Ridge area will arm mycologically-minded Mums with the ability to identify edible species like slippery-Jacks (a Boletus mushroom) and pine mushrooms (also known as saffron milk-caps) as well as learning what to avoid! At the end of the harvest/walk you will get to enjoy a mushroom cappuccino (just like a mushroom soup only frothy…) and then a mushroom & gorgonzola pizza from T’Gallant’s woodfired oven.

The Active Mum

Boneo Maze at Fingal is a short distance from the magnificent and secluded Private Coastal Luxury property. On Mothers’ Day, Boneo Maze is hosting two brunch sittings at 11am and 2pm. Apart from delicious food, craft workshops, jumping castles, mini golf, maze entry and access to the gardens are all included. This is sure to be a great day out for the whole family, but especially for Mums who can either relax while their brood is adequately entertained, or enter the fray.

The Eagle. Do you want to soar to new heights? To see what eagles see? On Mothers’ Day, Mums who accompany their kids on the Arthurs Seat Eagle will ride free. Great views guaranteed. Once at the top it is only a short distance to the Enchanted Maze Adventure Garden, home of Tree Surfing and tubing as well as expansive gardens – perfect for a picnic.
